For many years I fostered kittens for the Friends of Jefferson Animal Shelter Kitten Fostering Program in New Orleans. I helped birth and care for so many newborn kittens that people started calling me a "feline midwife."

This is when I learned how much a great photo can impact adoptions. We posted great photos and sometimes we had multiple people show up on adoption day for the same kitten because they fell in love with its photo on the website.

After Hurricane Katrina forced me to move to another house in another state, I couldn't do much fostering as I put my life back together. So I started using my photography skills to take photos of shelter animals. It's gratifying how much these photos help with adoptions.

I have, or am photographing animals for the Humane Society of South Mississippi (www.hssm.org), Spaymart (www.spaymart.org), Friends of Jefferson Animal Selter (www.fjas.org).

They say a picture speaks a thousand words, so with my photography I am not silent.
